Dangerous

Dangerous to Ourselves

Please join us on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Gerber/Hart Library for a free performance created by Ensemble Member Derek Van Barham in honor of Pride Month.

Dangerous To Ourselves will feature a combination of lesbian prose, poetry, drama, stand-up, essays, and interviews. Through the voices of many, the story of a universal woman will emerge.  "Such women are dangerous to the order of things," writes poet Adrienne Rich.  "And yes, we will be dangerous to ourselves."

Selections for the evening will be selected from The Children's Hour by Lillian Hellman, Lesa Cholodenko's screenplay for The Kids Are All Right, and a monologue from Grey's Anatomy. Prose selections include You Go When You Can No Longer Stay by Jackie Kay and Something That Needs Nothing by Miranda July. And poetry selections include work from Adrienne Rich, Marty McConnell, StaceyAnn Chin, Rachel McKibbens, Cristin O'Keefe, Andrea Gibson, and Alix Olson.

The cast inlcudes Valerie Heckman, Cyra K. Polizzi, Theresa Ohanian, Megan Umbach, and Drew Williams.
